Station 1: Jesus shares the last supper
Just before the last supper, he set aside his robe
and put on an apron. Then he poured water into
a basin and began to wash the feet of his followers.
TITLE: Broken for You
ARTIST: Jane Martindale
MATERIALS: Broken pottery & glue
DIMENSIONS: 600 mm high
REFLECTIVE: discarded pieces reformed
and redeemed. Twelve figures stand
tentatively waiting, vessels to be filled.
Not yet through the final fire, they are
purified but fragile. A humble bowl
stands on the floor strong and pure
perfected and sealed in the potters kiln.

Hi,
It was the most moving and thought provoking I’ve been to so far. Haunting and very well laid out and planned. The phrase ‘disturbing the comfortable’ comes to mind. A wonderful witness. Thank you.
I meant to put on the evaluation form that each time I’ve attended there have been young children who have appeared to have been quite upset by some parts of the exhibition. I am haunted by seeing children disturbed by, for example, Station 6. The ironies seem too strong. I wonder whether parents realise that it isn’t suitable for all ages or perhaps for all children of all ages — it probably varies according to temperament. Has anyone else commented on that? I wondered whether it might be an idea to issue a warning for want of a better word on the publicity and perhaps as people with children go in.
